This amazing girl was my student from age 5 until she left for Julliard at age 17. I had a little performing group called “Sassy” that Tiare was in and when she got older she took private lessons. Tiare is extremely accomplished in dance, music, and has won many National awards (see her bio). Here is a note she sent. Enjoy the picts and videos and I hope you are inspired by her excellence- she has worked hard for it!
Hi Kerilyn! My first year at Juilliard has been absolutely amazing!! In addition to our dance classes, we have liberal arts classes which includes a music studies class and I think about you every time we have it! We sing quite a bit and right now, we’re working on composing our own songs. So many things I’ve learned from you over the years I’ve been able to apply here at school and it’s been a huge blessing for me! However, I still miss your weekly lessons. I hope everything is going well in Utah and hopefully I’ll be able to see you when I’m home for break one of these days. Thank you so much for everything!
Love,
Tiare
Tiare Keeno has loved performing on stage since a very young age. She joined Kerilyn Johnson’s youngest vocal group, “Sassy”, when she was only four years old. After a couple of years performing with Sassy, she continued private vocal lessons with Kerilyn for many years until she graduated from high school in 2012. During those years, Tiare also became a very serious dance student, training at Center Stage Studios in Orem, Wasatch Dance Center in Heber, Ballet West Academy in Salt Lake City, and Classical Ballet Academy in Provo. Her success as a dancer include becoming a 3-time winner of the NYCDA National Outstanding Dancer title, a silver medalist at the World Ballet Competition, and a bronze medalist at the YAGP International Ballet Competition.
At 11 years old, she was able to combine her dancing and singing talents when she performed professionally with the world renowned Radio City Rockettes’ for two years in their annual Christmas Spectacular. Then in 2012 she landed a contract with the Nevada Ballet Theater in Las Vegas, where she performed in the beautiful new Smith Center’s Reynold’s Hall and Cirque du Soleil’s Elvis Theater.
Her love of performing also led her to take part in pageants. She was a 3-time overall title holder at the International Cinderella Pageant, became Miss Utah’s Outstanding Teen 2011, and placed Top 10 at Miss America’s Outstanding Teen Pageant 2011, earning her over $24,000 in college scholarships.
In 2011, Tiare produced her own concert called “Respect Through the Arts”, which included about 60 dancers, vocalists, and musicians from around the state of Utah.
Tiare currently attends the Juilliard School in New York City. She hopes to eventually dance on a contemporary ballet company and be able to use her talents in music and dance to contribute to society through performances, outreach programs, choreographing and teaching.
